SPRING 2017 SCHEDULE

SQUISHTIVITIES
This is an exciting adventure in play, created especially for adults and their children using arts and crafts and “messy” play to promote problem-solving, fine motor skills, parent/child relationships and creativity! October 2016- May 2017

October – Five Little Pumpkins. Create a cute pumpkin prop to go with this fun song about the 'Five Little Pumpkins Sitting On a Gate'.

November – Floating Leaf.  Make a colorful leaf with chalk shavings while experimenting with water tension and color mixing.

December - Play in the (Cornstarch) Snow! Adults and kids alike will love this unique and therapeutic sensory experience!

January – Name Mobile. Using items from nature, create your name to take home and hang up.

February – Cup Catch. Using everyday items, you will create your own catch game.

March – Spinner Painting! A salad spinner, paper and a bunch of different paint. Take home your creation (then make more at home!)

April – Spaghetti Art. You and your child will make a special art creation.

May - Mega Bubbles. Every child loves bubbles! Now you and your child can make this childhood classic larger than ever!

ALSEA: First Wednesday of the month, 12/7, 1/4, 2/1, 3/1, 4/5 & 5/3, 11:45am-12:45pm, at the Alsea Community Library.

MONROE: First Tuesday of the month, 12/6, 1/3, 2/7, 3/7, 4/4 & 5/2, 11:00am-12:00pm, at the Monroe Community Library

PHILOMATH: Second Wednesday of the month, 12/14, 1/11, 2/8, 3/8, 4/12 & 5/10, 10:30am-11:30am, at the Philomath Community Library 

Live & Learn with Your Toddler - This 10 week class is for parents and their toddlers and provides information, activities, songs and games focused on supporting the children's development. Tuesdays, April 4 - June 6, 9:10am-11:00am. $30 for Philomath School District residents/$74 for out of district. Clemens Primary School Early Learning Center, Rm #151, Philomath. In partnership with LBCC Parenting Education.

Live and Learn with Your Baby **NEW**-
This 10 week class is for parents and  their babies. Your baby is born learning! Come join other parents and their babies as you prepare your child for a lifetime of learning. Learn how to support your child's emotional, physical and intellectual development through songs, activities and group discussions. All while building a community of support and lifelong friends for you and your child. Class meets for 2 hours one day a week for 10 weeks. Families can join anytime if space is available. Wednesdays, April 5 - June 7, 9:30am-11:20am at Clemens Primary School Early Learning Center, Rm #151, Philomath. Cost: $25. CALL (541) 917-4899 for information and to register.

Alsea Pinewood Car Derby Race- Saturday, April 8 at 10am. Bake sale. Sponsored by John Boy's Mercantile, all proceeds go to support the Alsea Pups Preschool.
Go to John Boy's to buy your car and sign up for the race.

Survive & Thrive

This 6 week class is for parents with teenagers. The instructor chooses lessons to meet the group’s needs. Topics include understanding your child's development and needs, navigating decision-making and consequences, the impact of social media, ways to manage stress, building a thriving relationship. Tuesdays, April 11-May 23 (no class on 5/2), 6:00pm-7:30pm. Hearty snacks provided. Cost: $30 per person/$45 per couple. Creating a Healthy Media Diet for Your Family
How are technology, screens and media affecting your parenting and family life?

Join Anais Alexander, parent educator, mother, and teacher, for this FREE evening workshop.
She will help identify: age-appropriate programs, how screen time affects a young child's brain, and
ways to lead by example to create peaceful alternatives and limits.

Girls Circle is a structured support group for youth 9-18 years old that want to learn how to express themselves better and more creatively.  These groups help youth develop ways to make healthy decisions and how to feel better about themselves.
